How to Choose and Use an Emergency Eye Wash Station

April 07 2026

Any workplace that uses chemicals with the potential to cause harm to human health should be prepared for the worst eventuality. Although chemical accidents are rare, but when toxic or harmful substances (such as chemical liquids) splash onto the body, face, eyes of the workers, or when a fire causes the workers' clothes to catch fire, knowing how to use equipment such as an emergency eye wash station to temporarily reduce the further damage to the body caused by the harmful substances.

Each eye wash station should be in an easily accessible place within 10 seconds of the hazard and should be activated with a single motion in one second or less. Depending on the layout of the room, it may be necessary to install more than one eye wash station. Choose a brightly coloured eye wash to ensure it is clearly visible from all parts of the room.

There are five main types of eye wash stations, but it is up to you to determine which would best suit your company’s needs:

1.Emergency Eyewash and Shower

Emergency Eyewash and Shower equipped with a spray system (for full body rinsing) and an eye-washing system (for rinsing eyes/faces), it is directly installed on the ground and is suitable for scenarios where chemicals splash onto the body or eyes indoors or outdoors.

Usage:Remove the dust cover of the compound eyewash station. Just gently push the handle with your hand, and the cleaning water will automatically flow out from the eyewash nozzle. After use, you need to reset the push valve and the dust cover.

3.Wall mounted eye wash stations

Wall mounted eye wash station is available with a dual spray head so that both eyes can be flushed at the same time, installed on the wall, and able to be used indoors or outdoors.
